The Point is the part of East Grand Forks between the Red and Red Lake Rivers. This was the first neighborhood flooded in East Grand Forks, on the afternoon of April 18, 1997. Residents had to be rescued by boat or helicopter when access to the bridges was cut off by the flood. Homes in the north end of the Point will not be rebuilt.

James Drive
The houses on the east side of James Drive are being torn down to make room for the new dike, April 1998. East Grand Forks Mayor Lynn Stauss lives on this street and will lose his home to the dike.
